lorwolf

lorwolf notes

what to prioritise?

  • aim to get a full party (5 wolves) asap as this will make campaign/gauntlet easier
  • 2 extra wolves will allow for assignment to fishing/mining duty

breeding

  • breeding: 3 days + 1 day nesting, 5 days for pup growth
  • initially if at all possible...spare no expense in buying accessible new wolves

activities to do (grind method)

  • fish for stamina foods at beginning, area should have at least "plenty of fish"
  • explore a lot, do campaign quests
  • fight explore enemies for meat
  • fishing = cooking > crafting > mining

freebs/refreshes

  • collect free item from marvin every refresh
  • play with companions once every ~1 hour
  • gauntlet once a day (convenient to do with campaign party)
  • pageant once a day
  • tickets are used for the crafting caravan, activities refresh daily? crafting list refreshes weekly?
  • activity list is infinite, but there are only a limited number of crafting tickets

marvin

  • items refresh every 6? hours, you get a free bonus item every refresh
  • bonus is randomised from every item in the shop (including sold out ones)
  • if you have spare money, buy up the crafting mats, especially the cheap ones
  • cotton highly recommended, plus bone-related items (bones or bone paste) as these are good for grinding

crafting/cooking caravan

  • items refresh every week, alternating between crafting and cooking caravans
  • items are purchased with the respective ticket type
  • crafting - basic crafting mats can be obtained here, but recommend only doing this if you absolutely need those items immediately,

otherwise better to try and grab them from marvin
this is because there is only a limited amount of daily tickets, and it's probs better to save for rare companions (100 tickets)
recipes are so-so because the lower level ones are also stocked by marvin

  • cooking - buying a bunch of oscars is good for grinding more tickets and stocking up on food, plus unlike crafting, these can be queued
  • the moonstone shard "0/10 activities" refers not to individual actions, but other items on the daily activity list

battle

  • symbol distribution, moves are breed specific
  • each breed has a specific combination of symbols for battle, so diversity is good for stat distribution

(though I suppose specialisation is good too...)

  • companions also have symbols

gauntlet

  • not sure what purpose gauntlet serves, atm haven't gone high enough to see any good prizes
  • run once a day for a prize
  • companions can be selected but must be at least level 3, and the wolf they're attached to must also be in the party. they replace a wolf slot

cooking

  • at the start, oscar is best, followed by large meat
  • hoard koi for cooking level 6. easily burnt food is bc cooking level is too low
  • cooking caravan is useful for grinding food, as long as you don't intend to use the tickets for more expensive things.

just spend all the tickets on oscars -> cooking -> tickets -> oscars until you run out, and that's an easy ~700 cooked fish (if all are successful)

mining

  • mining is currently not that important (mostly for crafting materials), use for activity completion
  • pickaxes and wheels last several trips
  • mining is probably intended to go hand in hand with crafting, in that crafting levels can be grinded for by crafting

expendable mining tools

  • higher mining level probably gives you higher rates of rarer ores? (iron is fairly rare at the start, but becomes easier to collect later)

I think at level 10 you start finding moonstone shards while mining at any location (very rare)

  • if you're short on bars I suggest spending the good ores on pickaxes (since they last longer) and more common ones on wheels
  • you can drop common ores while mining if you want to grind other ores, without having to make the trip to and from the furnace

this will conserve stamina and you gain exp from just passively mining as well, I think

  • mining will continue as long as the cart is not full, so if you drop ores when the cart is full, it will start mining again

note that if you upgrade the cart size while mining, it will not count the new slots

  • smelting exp depends on ore

gold 110 exp
silver 16 exp
moonstone shard 11 exp (needs only 1 ore to be smelted)
iron 8 exp
copper 6 exp

  • cavern lagoon: copper, iron, gold

sacred springs: copper, iron, silver, gold

crafting

  • crafting is more important bc of rewards and etc. need to work on it a lot, level growth is slow
  • higher level is needed to learn and use higher level recipes
  • bone paste is widely used - bones can be found through explore or bought from crafting shop
  • other low level recipes include copper recipes (mining-related) and yarn (not sure if cotton and pigments can be found in explore, but can be bought from marvin and caravan)
  • at level 3 and above, scarves give a good chunk of exp

what to use moonstones for

  • new den: starts at 10
  • expand mining cart (+5 slots): starts at 25, 50, 100 (current maximum of 30 slots total)
  • expand cooking pot (+4 slots): starts at 25?, 50, 100...
  • marking changers

common accent: 10
common top: 10
common under: 10
merle accent: 15
merle top: 15
merle under: 15
maned accent: 75
maned under: 75
common breed changer: 50
rare breed changer (zerda): 150
besprinkler: 35

  • mechanics-wise, I recommend expanding the mining cart (if you want to pursue mining at all) as it concerns efficiency of stamina usage.

a larger cart = more exp gained for 25 stamina and more ores feeds into crafting levels, even if the pickaxes and wheels aren't
strictly necessary for grinding at all.

  • expanding cooking pot helps for convenience. it doesn't spend stamina and doesn't actually improve cooking times if you check frequently.

that said, it's a nice qol improvement to be able to queue more food at a time.

= 3 blue, 1 green, 1 yellow

  • gimmick team. use only if you have too much health left.
  • this is a stall team, meaning you will most likely time out rather than defeat the opponent.
  • against npcs it will count as a victory, but against other players, when you exceed turn 20 the battle ends and both players lose 5 health
  • this can be used to your advantage even if the battle is going badly because as long as you survive, the other player won't beat you

2 red 1 blue croc
2 red 1 blue lupin
2 poison 1 yellow scorpion
2 blue 1 yellow kit
2 blue 1 yellow lapistrix
= 1 red, 2 blue, 1 yellow

  • finished off the game with 4 lupin 1 lapistrix for funsies - I want to try this as an actual team, but it requires very aggressive refreshing

this does a lot of damage in each hit though

early game

  • prioritise synergy symbols and filling up your battle slots as they open
  • don't spend paws to refresh unnecessarily until your slots are full AND you have interest - always keep at least 10 paws (+1 interest)
  • not every companion will be available (it's a limited pool) so you can't always use the same teams
  • don't buy everything you see without thinking about where the creature will fit in your team, but note which companions are in the pool

mid to endgame

  • have a rough idea of your goal spread and grab the ones you need most, but keep the interest gain (you may have to hold off buying until the next match ends, buy, then spend the free refresh)
  • don't panic, bc your strategy may take some time to start working - rng determines the speed of your upgrades, and even if you have enough symbols you can't win consistently if they aren't upgraded enough. due to the latter I've had my health drop to 8 points fairly early in a match once, but then finally got all the upgrades and finished in 1st place w/o losing any more battles.
  • try not to lose too early because you have to wait for the entire game to end before you can collect the ticket lol.

general tips

  • first place = 5 tickets, second place = 4 tickets, etc. until fourth place = 2 tickets, everyone else gets 1 ticket for participation
  • attack seems to be more effective than defence/recovery
  • in my experience red, purple, poison are most effective
  • aim to have 4-5 symbols by late game, with at least 2 of the same symbol (the other two can be different); don't overgeneralise

optimally you don't want to waste symbols (any symbols between "checkpoints" are not counted), so some math is involved

  • if you seem to be losing by a tiny margin, try shuffling your front row/back row members - purple companions tend to have passive assassin which targets back row team members, but otherwise you want the more solid ones in front
  • doubling up companions is a valid strategy, if one seems to be doing very well in general and you could use more of its symbols (especially with the 2 red companions)
  • if you keep losing and don't know why, watch your battles!! it could be either that you haven't got enough symbols, haven't got a good spread of symbols, your companions are not upgraded enough, your companions don't have good abilities, or your companion positions need to be changed!

specific companions

  • mantis is not worth using as it doesn't attack normally, only uses special

(can see a potential strat where special gauge gain is boosted to use it, but otherwise nah)

  • bracchus is useful for if the pool contains shield enemies, but conversely, shields are not useful if the pool contains piercers
  • purple is probs only really useful combined with red - either do 2 red or 2 purple to have a decent increase in damage
  • llama is all round good for attack as it has 2 red + 1 purple, auto attacks do 150% damage, and its special deals critical damage twice
  • teufel (antelope) has a very good special - at level 3 it can nuke the entire opponent field, and is good to use in combination with a yellow synergy build

stall build
4 zerda, 1 kit
= 4 red / 6 blue / 5 yellow

  • most useful ones are red (full duration damage increases), blue (full duration health increases), and purple 6 (prioritise lowest health back line enemy)
  • purple can only be gained from companions currently

  • jocol special heals for damage done

  • bracchus auto attack heals every attack for damage done (random ally)
  • zerda auto attack gives 50% damage shield to random ally

need confirmation

  • possible to find cotton at goldsea?
  • specific locations for bones
